In some countries, all horses from breeding are tagged with a chip under their skin – just like a biometric passport that they carry on all the time. No more trouble about the identity of each horse, no more cheating with their age or origin for races. Easy access to every check point. If such kind of chips would be available for humans too, will you be the first to be tagged?
“Internet of things” stands for the future of internet. It means that internet functions will be available through many every-day objects, such as clothes, shoes, toothbrush, watches, glasses, books, cars, and of course mobile phones and all kind of electronic stuff. Thanks to nanoelectronics, all these objects will be able to “communicate” together, aside from human control, automatically. This will increase our comfort and ease our life for sure. But what will we do if a power blackout occurs? Are we so dependent on technology in our society
Here are some examples of contemporary applications of nanotechnology to develop miniature electronic tags:
- SmartDust applications, from Wikipedia
- TrashTrack, a project from MIT to track all the garbage we produce.
